Common questions
How is my worth worked out?
Each job in the calculator lists the skills it needs and its pay at 0, 5 and 12 years of experience in a metro city. Your levels decide where you sit in that job’s range: Beginner near the bottom, Expert near the top. Your experience and city then adjust it. Your worth is the pay for the best-paying job your skills fit, shown as a range because real offers vary.
Where do the numbers come from?
Pay ranges are typical yearly CTC figures from public Indian salary data: AmbitionBox, Naukri, Glassdoor India, PayScale India, Indeed India and Foundit, plus ICAI placement reports for chartered accountants. Where a source had no figure for 12 years, we estimated it from the 5-year figure. Last checked 20 October 2026. These are estimates, not offers.
Why does my city change the figure?
Companies in Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Pune usually pay the most. Tier-2 cities like Jaipur, Lucknow or Indore pay about 20% less for the same role, and smaller cities about 35% less.
Do certifications really raise salary?
A certification helps most when it fills a gap a job asks for, like an AWS certificate for a cloud role or NEBOSH for a safety officer. The calculator only suggests courses that open a better-paying job for your skills, and shows roughly how much that job pays more.
What about government jobs?
Government pay follows fixed pay levels, not skills, so those jobs are not in this calculator. Use the 8th Pay Commission calculator to see government pay.
